Russell in conjunctiuon with the Toowoomba City Council made this transplant a successful one.
The palm is approximately 80 years of age and had attained a height of 14 metres and had a gross weight of 28 tonnes at the time of transplanting. These palms have a life expectancy of approximately 140 to 160 years so the proud residents of Toowoomba and the many visitors to the annual Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers will have many years to appreciate and enjoy the visual beauty and the prestige of these exotic palms. There are plans to transplant a future Canary Island palm to provide a positioned matched pair.
